In the 7th JVT meeting, AVS workgroup proposed a National Comments
(JVT-G035) to ask JVT holding current RFB regulation. Meanwhile,
with 24 international enterprises and 7 representative enterprise
including (Amoisonic, Changhong, Datang, Hair, Huawei, Lenovo, SVA),
AVS workgroup proposed a proposal of Support for JVT Royalty Free
Baseline

Chinese R&D units started to track and participate in the establishment
of JVT standard. ICT of CAS, Tsinghua University and Microsoft Research
Asia etc. were invited.

The 53rd MPEG meeting was held successfully in Beijing.

With the imbursement of 863-306, a delegation including 7 members
was sent to the 48th MPEG meeting. We submitted 4 proposals before
the meeting and 2 proposals were preached. It was our first time
to propose to MPEG.
1998
MPEG-China was set up. Forum was held every two months, on which
each unit introduces his work and discuss new proposals.
1996
With the imbursement of Multi-media Branch of National Committee
for Information Technology Standardization and 863 Program Intelligent
Computing System, Chinese researchers start to track the international
standard and technology. Prof. Gao Wen was assigned as the HoD.
