    The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration of China issued the National Standard Announcement ([2012] No. 41), and approved the issuance of the Information Technology – Advanced Coding of Audio and Video - Part 1: System (GB/T 20090.1-2012), Information Technology – Advanced Coding of Audio and Video - Part 4: Compliance Testing (GB/T 20090.4-2012), and Information Technology – Advanced Coding of Audio and Video - Part 5: Reference Software (GB/T 20090.5-2012) as national standards, which will be implemented on June 1, 2013 (please refer to the National Standard Announcement ([2012] No. 41)). The Information Technology – Advanced Coding of Audio and Video (referred to as AVS standards) is a series of standards, currently including 13 parts including system, video, audio, and conformance testing, among which "Part 2: Video" was promulgated as a national standard in February 2006. The three items promulgated this time are Part 1, Part 4 and Part 5 of the AVS standard.

    Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Radio and Television tendered the 240-channel AVS TV program equipment.

    The one-month IEEE P1857 standard voting has ended, and the video standards including all grades of AVS1 have passed the voting and entered the standard publishing process.

    The Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Science and Technology Department of the National Radio and Television Administration jointly held the Release and Publicity Conference of Advanced Coding of Audio and Video for Broadcasting - Part 1: Video (AVS+) Standard. Ding Wenwu, Director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Sun Suchuan, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of the National Radio and Television Administration, Duan Ruichun, President of the China Law Association on Science &Technology, Academician Gao Wen, Director of the Digital Media Research Institute of Peking University, and Ding Wenhua, Chief Engineer of CCTV and other experts attended the meeting.

    The National Radio and Television Administration promulgated the industry standard Advanced Coding of Audio and Video for Broadcasting - Part 1: Video (GY/T 257.1-2012, referred to as AVS+), which was implemented on the date of promulgation.

    The AVS Standard and Industrialization Application Summit and 10th Anniversary Celebration was held at Peking University. At this meeting, the AVS Promotion Workgroup held an inauguration ceremony. Yang Xueshan, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Zhou Qifeng, President of Peking University, Wang Xiaojie, Director of the Science and Technology Department of the National Radio and Television Administration, Xu Jianping, Deputy Director of the High-tech Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Hu Yan, Inspector of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the meeting.

    The "2011 AVS Award" was announced, and Zhang Xianguo (Peking University), the AVS1-P10 Audio Coding Standard R&D Team, and the Video Compliance Testing Team won the AVS Award 2011.

    In order to promote the industrial application of AVS independent innovation technology in HDTV and 3D TV, the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Science and Technology Department of the National Radio and Television Administration jointly issued the Notice on the Establishment of the AVS Technology Application Joint Promotion Workgroup, and decided to jointly establish the " AVS Technology Application Joint Promotion Workgroup" (hereinafter referred to as "AVS Promotion Workgroup").
