    The AVS HD Real-time Stereoscopic Video Encoder completed by Professor Gao Wen's research group from the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science Peking University has passed the technical achievement appraisal hosted by the Ministry of Education.

    Guangzhou Asian Games set off a wave of AVS 3D TV, which realized the industrialization of the first AVS 3D encoder and AVS 3D high-definition set-top box, the integration of the first AVS 3D TV program production system and AVS 3D TV broadcast system, and the industrial application of AVS in the field of 3D film and television.

    The National Radio and Television Administration made a unified plan, and officially launched the bidding for AVS encoder for digital radio and television projects, and opened the application of AVS digital terrestrial TV in 5 cities including Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang, Changchun, Lanzhou, and Nanchang.

    The Science and Technology Department of the National Radio and Television Administration agreed to carry out China’s first AVS 3D TV technology test project in Guangzhou. On September 25, 2010, with the approval of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, jointly led by Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology and Information and Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication, the relevant departments of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, Panyu District, Guangzhou TV Station and other departments, together with the Academy of Broadcasting Science, NRTA and the Academy of Broadcasting Planning, NRTA jointly carry out the national 3D TV technology test project. At present, the first 3D TV test channel system has been built, and various work has been carried out according to the deployment and requirements of the National Radio and Television Administration. Guangzhou is expected to take the lead in opening China's first 3D TV test channel.

    The first AVS stereo TV coding system was successfully developed by the National Engineering Laboratory for Video Technology of Peking University.

    The 33rd Meeting of AVS Workgroup was held in the Three Gorges as scheduled. 109 representatives from 39 members attended the meeting. A total of 27 proposals (M2697~M2724) were received, and 18 output documents (N1707~N1724) were formed after deliberation and discussion in the 3-day meeting (4 days in the video group).

    Under the joint leadership and direct guidance of the Standardization Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other relevant ministries and commissions, the inaugural meeting of the Joint Workgroup on Internet of Things Standards was held in Beijing Friendship Hotel. AVS Workgroup, with 18 relevant standardization organizations including SAC/TC124, SAC/TC426, SAC/TC268, Electronic Label Standards Workgroup of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Information Resource Sharing Collaborative Service Standards Workgroup of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Broadband Wireless IP Standards Workgroup of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, jointly initiated the establishment of the Joint Workgroup on Internet of Things Standards, which aims to adhere to the standard strategy of combining independent innovation with openness and compatibility, integrate the resources to accelerate the construction of China's Internet of Things national standard system and the formulation of relevant national standards based on the development and application of Internet of things industry requirements, in order to grasp the initiative in the development of the Internet of Things.

    At the Guangzhou Science and Technology Week 2010 - Science and Technology Asian Games Achievement Exhibition, Wan Qingliang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and Mayor of Guangzhou, and leaders and experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering spoke highly of the AVS 3D stereoscopic TV broadcasting and receiving system.

    Liu Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Guo Jinlong, Mayor of Beijing, and their entourage visited the National Engineering Laboratory for Video Technology at Peking University. Professor Gao Wen, Director of the Laboratory, demonstrated the AVS high-definition digital TV broadcasting system and the AVS stereoscopic TV broadcasting system on the spot.

    The 32nd Meeting of AVS Workgroup was held in Guangzhou as scheduled. 114 representatives from 52 members attended the meeting. A total of 32 proposals (M2660-M2692) were received at the conference, and 24 output documents (N1677-N1700) were formed after deliberation and discussion at the 3-day conference (4 days in the video group). At the closing ceremony of the meeting, the results of the AVS Awards 2009 judged by 13 selection experts were announced and the winners were presented with awards. The Reference Software Maintenance Team (Zheng Xiaozhen, Zhang Li, Mao Xunan, Sun Li, and Song Jin), Mobile Grade Standard Promotion Team (Yang Libo and Mao Xunan), and Gao Ge won the AVS awards this year.

    The first AVS high-definition real-time codec engineering machine with professional chip architecture was born in the Guangzhou Research, Development and Industrialization Center of the National Engineering Laboratory for Video Technology, marking that AVS HD real-time encoder has been commercially available to broadcast operators on a large scale. From December 17 to 19, 2009, the 31 Meeting of AVS Workgroup was held in Beijing. 133 representatives from 50 members attended the meeting. A total of 20 proposals (M2639-M2659) were received, and 21 output documents (N1656-N1676) were formed.
